Assam Heritage Tour | Kaziranga, Majuli & Sibsagar

Your Assam journey begins with a scenic drive from Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park (approximately 4–5 hours). This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its population of the one-horned rhinoceros and expansive floodplain grasslands. Upon arrival, check in to your wildlife lodge and relax amidst the natural surroundings of Kaziranga.

In the evening, visit the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park, home to one of Northeast India’s largest collections of orchids. The park offers a glimpse into the region’s rich biodiversity, along with traditional cultural performances, local crafts, and Assamese heritage experiences.

Begin the day with an early morning wildlife safari in the central range of Kaziranga National Park, one of India’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Known for its population of the iconic one-horned rhinoceros, the park is also home to wild buffalo, swamp deer, elephants, and diverse birdlife. The safari offers a chance to experience Kaziranga’s vast grasslands and unique floodplain ecosystem up close.

After breakfast, continue your journey towards Jorhat and board a ferry across the mighty Brahmaputra River to reach Majuli, the world’s largest inhabited river island. In the evening, visit a traditional satra (Vaishnavite monastery) to experience Majuli’s spiritual heritage, devotional music, classical dance traditions, and the peaceful rhythm of island life.

After breakfast, depart from Majuli and drive to Sivasagar, once the historic capital of the powerful Ahom dynasty that ruled Assam for over six centuries. This day focuses on exploring some of the region’s most significant Ahom-era monuments and heritage sites, offering insight into Assam’s royal and architectural legacy.

Visit the iconic Rang Ghar, considered one of Asia’s oldest surviving amphitheatres, followed by the grand Kareng Ghar, the royal palace complex of the Ahom kings. Walking through these historic landmarks offers a glimpse into the architectural brilliance and cultural heritage that shaped Assam’s history. Later, drive to Jorhat for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin the drive back to Guwahati (approximately 5–6 hours), marking the final leg of your Assam heritage journey.
